How is artificial snow made?

Why wait for the winters or go to hill station to experience the snow, when you can make fake or artificial snow for yourself. Now you can ski all year round and even behind your backyard, wearing your summer clothes! All you need is the ingredient, which are salt, glue, talcum powder, starch in the liquid form, food color, soap flakes, sodium polyacrylate and water. With these ingredients you can make artificial snow and use in various projects or just for fun.

How to make artificial snow
You can make artificial snow with simply sodium polyacrylate and water. The sodium polyacrylate can be bought from a gardening store in the form of crystals. There is no need to worry because these are nontoxic in nature and completely safe!

SnowPour sodium polyacrylate in a small quantity into a mixing bowl and add water. Once you have added water, the mixture will expand and double in quantity. So, it is advisable to pour small amount of it initially, for example, a tablespoon. Keep adding water in a gradual speed, unless and until a consistency is acquired resembling that of the snowflakes. If you want more moist ones, then add more amount of water.

After this, shake or stir the mix for the water to distribute well with all the sodium polyacrylate crystals. Expansion of crystals will take place instantly. Freeze the mix in a freezer for some time, so that becomes cold and then use it. Freezing makes the artificial snow feel more real.

Use if for decorating a roof, tree etc by simply pouring the mix on a surface that has glue on it. You can also mix some food color or glitters to make it look more magical. With this process, you can have your own snow angel in your garden under the summer sun!
